PMTC Review( 2 0 0 7‐2 0 010)

The International Pavement Maintenance Technology Congress (PMTC) has been held for 3 years under the support of RIOH (Research Institute of Highway MOC), the Road Engineering Branch of China Highway Institute and ISSA (International Slurry Surfacing Association) since 2007. PMTC mainly establish the industry platform by congress and workshop. The congresses have been successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan, Shanxi, Xi’an, Guangdong, Guangzhou respectively in April 2007, April 2008 and May 2009, which obtained great supports from the local traffic government departments, enterprises and scholars and experts from scientific research institutions. The number of participants is nearly 1500. The workshops have been successfully held in Chengdou, Xi’an, Changchun and Kunming respectively in April 2007, April 2008, Septemper 2008 and March 2009.

As of 2008, China's new highway mileage of 100,000 kilometers, of which 6433 kilometers new highway to reach 60.3 thousand kilometers, ranking second in the world. As the highway mileage increasing, as well as the continuous extension of the road network in China, the pavement maintenance are facing an unprecedented huge challenge, which the industry experts, professionals are making long-term research projects. PMTC is devoted to build international technology platform, emphasize the discussions, communications and promotion, of global new pavement maintenance technology.

Over the past three years, the total number of participants is nearly 1500. The contents of PMTC always focus on the technical requirements of marketing and industry, discussing the pavement maintenance technologies such as the micro-surfacing, asphalt pavement regeneration, warm mix, surface layer, the teconologies  to solve such practical industry problems, the protection concept to promote the environmental,  extending to the field of the evaluation and design of pavement maintenance and introducing many overseas experience and leading ideas. PMTC has become the most professional technical platform in China’s road maintenance field.

PMTC shows the forefront new technology and new products and new concept in the world through the exchange of experience, information release, indoor experiment demonstration, site construction and vivid diverse forms of activities, which provided an excellent learning and communication platform for participants, offered a good impetus to the vigorous development of China's transportation industry and environmental protection and created an incomparable industry communication environment for maintenance field.

PMTC is the most important platform that you communicate with industry officials, owners, contractors and suppliers, experts and scholars. It will provide you with the unique opportunities to reach out the international maintenance technology and latest market information to help you on the best technical solutions and great business opportunities.

Analyzing of participants 1

We could learn from the chart that 40-50% participants are from the owners, fully shows that the government has paid a great attention and emphasis on road maintenance. The institutes & supervision of the participants Increased and an increase of nearly double of the supplier showed on the chart. Description With the vigorous development of transport, scientific research institutes has increased its road maintenance technology research, while suppliers have also increased funding for road maintenance and technical input.

Analyzing of participants 2

From the chart we can see that the 2007 congress held in Chengdu, southwest China participants accounted for 28% ; 2008 conference held in Xi'an, northwest region accounted for 26%; 2009 Conference held in Guangzhou, South China region accounted for 22%, we can see that the attracts more regional attendees. It also can be seen from the chart that for 2007-2009, the participants from eastern China accounted for 20%, 24%, 28%, because of easter China has the more developed road maintenance market.
